Creative Youth Network (CYN) wish to procure a main contractor for the refurbishment of the Grade 2 listed Old Magistrates Court in the centre of Bristol. The works will include major repairs to the historic listed building fabric including its fine interior and the original courts and the alteration and adaptation of the building to accommodate the proposed new uses.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement
The Creative Youth Network is a successful charity helping young people in the Bristol area develop their potential particularly in the field of performing arts and related activities. Creative Youth Network (CYN) are planning to undertake a major capital project to restore the historic Victorian and Edwardian magistrates’ courts at the heart of Bristol’s city centre.
The Old Magistrates’ Courts stand at the centre of the Bridewell Island complex of historic public buildings, which once comprised the central Police and Fire stations, and the headquarters of Bristol’s CID. The project will see the courthouse transformed into a Creative Enterprise Hub for small start-up businesses in the creative/entertainment industries with supporting facilities for conferences, events, functions and performances. The income generated will be used for future maintenance, providing public access to the principal spaces, and to support CYN’s wider activities with young people.
Throughout the project CYN are committed to providing training opportunities for young people. The construction value is expected to be in the region of GBP 4.5 Million and will be procured via a traditional procurement route with the consultant team currently undertaking the detailed design.
