The Council of the London Borough of Redbridge (“the Authority”) is seeking Tenders from suitably experienced and qualified organisations for the Contract for the Provision of Falls Prevention Services for Older People.

The Contract shall commence on 1st April 2022 and, subject to satisfactory performance, shall continue for a period of three (3) years, terminating at midnight on 31st March 2025 (“the Contract Period”). At the sole discretion of the Authority and subject to the satisfactory performance of the Provider, the Contract Period may be extended in such period or periods as the Authority deems appropriate up to a maximum of two (2) years, providing a possible total Contract Period to midnight on 31st March 2027

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

This service forms part of the Contract between the London Borough of Redbridge (“the Authority) and the Provider as the responsible organisation for the overall management of the Contract for the Provision of Services for Falls Prevention Service for Older People in the London Borough of Redbridge (“the Contract”). The Contract shall be provided in a personalised way to meet the individual needs and outcomes of older people.

The service will:

• Provide falls support planning and risk assessments for individuals and their homes,

• Develop person centred plans to maximise older people’s potential for independent living,

• Reduce the risks of falls and injuries by improving strength and balance,

• Reduce hospital admissions as a result of falls,

• Educate and raise falls prevention awareness with multi-organisations, agencies, care homes and the public,

• Deliver interventions for falls preventions e.g. strength and balance exercise, home and Residential Care Home risk assessments and referrals to the appropriate team for provision of home equipment.

The overall aim of the Service is to provide inclusive and holistic Falls Prevention service to Service Users helping them to maintain their quality of life and enhance their health and well-being. The Service should be person centred, coordinated and outcomes focused.

The Service shall focus on the work of the National Falls Prevention Coordination Group (NFPCG) to:

• Promote healthy ageing across the different stages of life

• Improve strength and balance

Prevent frailty, preserve bone health, reduce accidents, through preserving physical activity, healthy lifestyles, and reducing environmental hazards, and

• Provide early intervention to restore independence through Falls Care Pathway linking acute and urgent care to secondary falls prevention
