The University of Derby is seeking to engage a provider on a Concessions Contract basis to provide sports centre management services.The Derby Sports Centre is located at the main campus at Kedleston Road, and has a major role in supporting, promoting and delivering academic programmes as well as increasing participation in sport and physical activity, and positively impacting on the wellbeing of the University's student, staff and local community.
The Sports Centre is located at the main Kedleston Road site in Derby, approx. 1.5 miles from the city centre. The £10.8 million sports centre was opened in 2015 and has a current membership of 1567 (based on March 2020 figures): 1109 student,
175 staff, and 283 community/graduate/other members.
Facilities include eight badminton court sports hall, 70-station fitness suite, 2 dedicated fitness studios, two squash courts, a climbing wall, and a performance strength and conditioning suite. Externally there are two 3G pitches (football/rugby) and two tennis courts The sports centre is a key hub for academic teaching, is an accredited TASS delivery site (Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme), hosts the Derbyshire Institute of Sport
team and athletes, and has a number of external/community clubs' users who hire the facilities throughout the year
