Description

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) seeks to procure 19 Iridium satellite communication terminals with airtime contracts to provision a resilient, non-terrestrial communication capability during a national or critical infrastructure outages.

Scope of Supply:

7 x Iridium handheld/mobile terminals with standard accessories: e.g. case, USB data cable, antenna adaptor, ear piece, rechargeable battery

7 x solar chargers for handheld units

12 x Iridium fixed terminals for permanent installation in shore-based buildings, including aerials and up to 50m of cabling

SIM cards and airtime agreements: 120 minutes/month per terminal

Delivery to two mainland UK addresses (details provided upon award)

Warranty: Minimum 12 months

Support: Options for post-warranty defect support

Exclusions: Installation and commissioning will be handled internally

Total value (estimated)

Engagement process description

Following a desktop exercise to identify potential suppliers, the MCA has already undertaken market engagement to establish budget costs, the availability of potentially suitable solutions and to determine the best approach to the procurement (open procedure).

The MCA believes it now has sufficient insight into the supply market to go out to tender for our requirement. Details of how to communicate with the MCA during the tender period will be issued with the UK4 Tender Notice.
