Peel Ports owns and operates six of the UK’s most important ports (Port of Liverpool, Heysham Port, Manchester Ship Canal, Medway (Sheerness / Chatham), Clydeport (Greenock, Hunterston, Ardrossan) and Great Yarmouth). It also operates a container terminal in Dublin.
In support of its ongoing operations, the Manchester Ship Canal is engaging in market research with a view to launching a non-regulated procurement for the award of the complete upgrade of the QEII dock fire suppression system. The objective is to ensure all upgrades are compliant with relevant standards.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement
The QEII Dock is situated near Eastham Village, Wirral, at the entrance to the Manchester Ship Canal on the River Mersey. Vessels access the QEII Dock through a lock, which helps maintain a constant water level in the dock basin.
The dock consists of four berths: Berth 1, Berth 2, Berth 3, and Berth 4. All berths, except for Berth 1, are equipped with pipework connections and are utilized to transport petrochemical products to and from the oil refineries located to the south of the dock.
The three berths at the dock can accommodate ships with a deadweight tonnage (DWT) of up to 50,000 and a maximum length of 190 meters.
The fire suppression system at the dock is nearing the end of its operational life and requires a complete upgrade to ensure compliance with relevant standards, including the International Safety Guide for Oil Tankers and Terminals (ISGOTT). The scope of the project will include the design and installation of fire suppression equipment (fire main, pumps, monitors) as well as a fire detection system (alarms, call points, detectors, etc.).
