two.1.4) Short description

Westminster City Council and its partner The Crown Estate invite ambitious, innovative and solutions-focused urban designers to submit proposals for a transformational urban landscape experience for Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus and Haymarket’s public realm. This is a once in a generation place making opportunity. The challenge? To achieve a landmark city-shaping scheme in the heart of the West End, which is people and nature focused and stands out on the global stage.

We are looking for a highly experienced design consortium or multidisciplinary practice with an extensive and proven track record in developing world class urban design solutions for the public realm, and seeing these through construction to completion in high profile and busy urban environments.

The successful design team must deliver a ground-breaking public realm design that is unique, exciting, timeless and fit for purpose for these internationally recognised West End destinations. The design must reflect the vision and ambitions that were established during the recent engagement on Regent Street and Haymarket, and embrace the opportunity to create an accessible, inclusive, resilient public realm that is able to evolve to meet tomorrow’s challenges.
