A summary of the expected community benefits has been provided as follows:

Through this contract, ETZ wish to ensure that the local community benefit from the construction phase of the EISH, promoting local skills development, enhancing employment prospects for youth people, and enabling the community to connect better with ETZ’s work. ETZ highly values skills related initiatives that promote links between schools and industry, provide work experience opportunities for young people, and actively engage local companies and contractors.

Each bidder must detail any community and skills initiatives they currently participate in and consider how these can be tailored to the EISH project, benefiting ETZ’s local community. Activities to consider include, but are not limited to, engaging with primary or secondary schools, hosting foundation or modern apprentices, offering internship, work placement or shadowing opportunities, joining Developing the Young Workforce’s Young Persons Guarantee, offering interview guarantees, running programmes to promote return to work for disadvantages groups, and utilising local supply chain companies and contractors.

In particular, bidders are asked to outline what internships, work placements, and/or foundation apprenticeships they will offer to pupils at the neighbouring secondary school, Lochside Academy. Details should be across a range of construction, business, and administrative functions, and include anticipated number of places offered.
