Explanation:
A large number of children and young people admitted into hospital are presenting with significant mental health issues but are additionally autistic. NHSE endorsed a pilot solution in support of the local system however an urgent contract award is now required due to escalating issues in the system leading to reduced in-patient bed capacity and wider ramifications for clinical safety and harm. This contract will focus on supporting a cohort of 12 people to release such pressures by supporting discharge. Tier four settings continue to exceed local trajectory and that set under the NHS Long Term Plan; concerns have been raised. With the acute setting the CYP crisis service indicates continued admission of CYP with mental health issues (including suicide attempts, eating disorders and co-occurring autism) some of whom await a tier four bed and some who require discharge.
