Description
The scope of the Specification includes the design, prototyping and testing of the Modified Drawgear at all intermediate positions on the 1996 Tube Stock (96TS) vehicles.
The scope requirements for the design, prototyping and testing of a Modified Drawgear for the London Underground (LU) 1996 Tube Stock (96TS) are to address the known deficiencies of the existing system. This project is known as Jubilee Vehicle
Underframe Modification (JVUM) Project Lot 2.
The Designer is required to design, supply and test prototypes for the Modified Drawgear at the intermediate vehicle positions of the 96TS.
The Modified Drawgear shall feature a Collapse Element to replace the failing Jaw Release Mechanism,
As the Jaw Release Mechanism is complex and bespoke, collapse solutions of proven technology used in the railway industry are preferred.
The Modified Drawgear shall have a design life of not less than 25 years.
The Designer is required to deliver prototypes of the Modified Drawgear for testing.
