National Museums Scotland wishes to engage one or two Contractors to carry out specialist museum shipping for the collection and return of objects for the exhibition Beyond the Little Black Dress. The objects should arrive at the National Museum of Scotland in time for exhibition install (5 June – 23 June 2023) and return to lenders after deinstall (30 October 2023 onwards).

Lot One services include: Transportation of objects collected from 15 lenders based in the UK to National Museums Collection Centre, Granton, Edinburgh during the period January to June 2023; Return transportation of objects from National Museums Scotland to 17 lenders based in the UK during November and December 2023; Supply of packing material and appropriate packing of items for approximately 13 lenders; Storage of loan items in a secure, clean, environmentally controlled and pest-free facility, where necessary for transportation; Communicate directly with Lenders to finalise transport and packing arrangements, including courier requirements; Co-ordination of courier travel and accommodation; Co-ordination of all elements noted.

To provide a range of services which include: Inbound customs clearance and transportation to NMS of objects collected from two lenders in the USA, one in Germany, one in the Netherlands, one in Spain, two in Ireland and four in Paris, during the period January to June 2023; Inbound customs clearance and transportation of object via hand carry with courier, from one lender in Canada, during the period January to June 2023; For return transport outbound customs clearance and return transportation from NMS of objects to two lenders in the USA, one in Germany, one in the Netherlands, one in Spain, two in Ireland and five in Paris during November and December 2023; Outbound customs clearance and return transportation from NMS of object via hand carry to one lender in Canada during November and December 2023; Supply of crates and packing assistance of items for approximately 4 lenders; Storage of loan items in a secure, clean, environmentally controlled and pest-free facility, where necessary for transportation; Communicate directly with Lenders to finalise transport and packing arrangements, including courier requirements; Co-ordination of courier travel and accommodation; Co-ordination of all elements noted here.
