Aberystwyth University (AU) current has approximately 3750 study bedrooms, made up of approximately 1,500 en-suite rooms and 2,250 standard rooms - a proportion of which you are being asked to bid for. Student bedrooms are rented to the students between a 39 - 50 week licence period (although the large majority are between 39-40 weeks between September to June). Each flat has a communal kitchen that is generally used by between 6 -10 persons. The buildings are typically 3 or 4 storeys with a main staircase or 2 storey houses of 5 -6 bedrooms.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

Aberystwyth University is required to provide a full building deep cleans on an annual basis following occupation by students. Cleaning to communal stairwells and entrances is provided all year round by our in-house cleaning team, and, students are responsible for ensuring that the communal areas with a flat / house, and of course their study bedrooms are left in a suitable condition. The University has not provided a cleaning service to bedrooms, en-suite bathroom pods or communal bathrooms and kitchens throughout the licence period but does carry out a cleaning inspection regime on a regular basis of these areas.

This tender is for the provision of cleaning services for student residential accommodation, as well as our residential conferences at Aberystwyth University.

Within both Conferencing and Accommodation, our aim is to maximise usage of (and therefore income from) all of our facilities whilst ensuring an excellent standard of customer experience at all times – cleaning provision needs to facilitate and support this overall aim.
