To comply with the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) funding rules that govern apprenticeships in the UK, all apprentices must evidence that a minimum of 20% of their contracted working hours are protected by their employers for developing the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours (KSB) required to meet their apprenticeship standard throughout the duration of their apprenticeship. These are known as ‘Off the Job’ (OTJ) Learning hours. In addition, we are required to monitor the progress each apprentice is making in their development of the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours as they work through their apprenticeship and their End Point Assessment (EPA). For some apprenticeships, in addition, the development of a portfolio of work is a required component of the EPA itself.
