There are a mixture of production kitchens and dining centres.
The Contract will include all food and staff provision to support the delivery of the outsourced catering service.
School meals matter. It has been well documented that children who eat nutritious meals every day and lead active lifestyles tend to excel. The Trust recognise that their schools are on the frontline of efforts to improve childhood nutrition and our collective health. Improving the meals that our pupils eat in schools is an important step to achieve that goal.
The Trust and its schools are located in an area of deprivation. Nutritious meals are vital for deprived school children due to their profound impact on physical health, cognitive development, and overall well-being. For children from disadvantaged backgrounds, access to healthy food can be limited, making school meals a critical source of nutrition. It is therefore of the upmost importance to the Trust that pupils receive a hot meal that is both nutritious and of a suitable portion size to enable them to fulfil their potential.
There is a requirement to provide HMC unstunned meat in some of the schools, therefore it will be a mandatory requirement that the contractor can deliver this.
