Scope

Description

West Berkshire Council and Reading Borough Council is currently planning to procure an Integrated Healthy Lifestyle Service for West Berkshire and Reading residents. The proposed service is likely to run for five years with an option to extend for a further two years.

The aim of the service is to improve access to healthy lifestyle services for adults, weight management, physical activity, falls prevention and stop smoking services to improve health outcomes of the people living within the two areas and to:

• To contribute to the reduction of health inequalities

• To reduce the length of time adults spend in poor health in later life by helping more adults to live longer in good health.

• To contribute to economic growth by improving the health and wellbeing of the workforce, thereby improving productivity, reducing absenteeism and helping inactive adults return to work.

• To improve levels of self-care, resilience and wellbeing

• To contribute to reducing the overall cost burden to public services, particularly health and social care

• To support the Council's to fulfil obligations within the public health grant to tackle obesity and deliver community-based stop smoking services

We are seeking to understand the market's interest in the opportunity and views to assist in informing the decision-making process. We would value your engagement with this process to inform the suitability of options.

The purpose of the market testing exercise is to gather insight and feedback from interested providers to help inform integrated healthy lifestyle services.

The market testing will inform the understanding of the potential of the local market to provide the required support offer and to explore ways of delivering the services to improve the health of residents.
