two.1.4) Short description
Postwick with Witton's Parish Council playground project aims to refurbish an existing children's playground which is sited next to the Village Hall. The play area consists of a wooden fenced area approximately 29.5m x 17.5m (Area A) and a trim trail approximately 9m x 17m adjacent to it (unfenced) (Area B). See map 'Site Plan of Playground.' This is situated on a large playing field in a rural setting.
The new trim trail could however be re-sited as the PC are looking into plans to use Area B in different capacity and move the trim trail away from the track which is used for vehicle access to the bottom of the field.
Play equipment to include:
• Swings with 2x seat, 2x cradle and 1 basket
• Playhouse e.g. tractor
• Springers e.g. car, tractor, horses Age 3+
• Tower climbs with climbing features and slides etc for lower age range
• Tower climbs with slides for upper age range 7+
• Imaginative play equipment eg row boat, train etc Age 5+
• A track around the outside of the play equipment, but within the fence, for parents to push younger children in prams/pushchairs. Figure of 8 track if possible.
• Trim trail. The PC preference is for the new trim trail to be fenced in due to an increase in vehicle use of a track that runs to the side of the field. Or potentially re-sited so that users are separated from vehicular movement.
The PC are open to recommendations for other play equipment that have a high play value.
Retain existing metal bench and seesaw.
Retain existing fencing or could be extended according to design or new fencing. - include costs in tender.
Please note you will need to consider the following in your design: there is a concrete cover to Ground Source Heat Pump pipework. This area is no longer in use and requires infilling with aggregate and levelling. We anticipate that the work will involve filling the hole with a light mix of concrete and aggregate. The sides should be levelled to match the surrounding grass height, and the area re-turfed.
However, we are open to alternative suggestions, provided that the area is rendered usable and safe.

Total cost should be within the range £55,000 to £65,000 Excluding VAT
