The Centre for Research Collections (CRC) delivers an annual programme of public exhibitions in the University of Edinburgh Main Library. The CRC will deliver between one and two temporary exhibitions per year and requires framework suppliers for design and build services.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

The Centre for Research Collections (CRC) delivers an annual programme of public exhibitions in the University of Edinburgh Main Library. The CRC will deliver between one and two temporary exhibitions per year and The University is tendering for a framework of suppliers for full-service exhibition services; design, build and graphic production.

These suppliers will assist the University’s Engagement Officer (Exhibitions), who coordinates the public exhibitions.

The University are looking to work with one, primary supplier for each exhibition, providing the following services:

- Design: creation and application of overall identity and design approach for museum/gallery exhibition projects, working to a brief provided by the University

- Graphic Production: production, supply and installation as required of large format graphics, including ‘3D’ services, working to specifications provided by exhibition designers

- Build: fabrication and installation of exhibition build elements, working to technical specifications provided by exhibition designers.

List and brief description of selection criteria

Bidders are required to provide adequate assurance of financial strength to successfully complete their contractual obligations. Bidders should have an annual yearly turnover of at least 100,000 GBP for the last 3 years (although it may be lower for f/y 2020/21 because of the impacts of COVID).

Minimum level(s) of standards possibly required

As per the SPD, suppliers should be able provide or (confirm they will be able to obtain, before the commencement of the framework) certificates of relevant insurnaces below:

Public Liability insurance of Minimum GBP 1M

Employers Liability insurance of Minimum GBP 5M

Professional Indemnity insurance of Minimum GBP 1M

List and brief description of selection criteria

The University’s museums have Museum Accreditation, the UK industry standard for museums and galleries. As such only suppliers with proven track records with designing exhibitions for heritage collections will be considered. Suppliers must be able to provide at least 3 relevant examples of design and build exhibition services in the last 3 years.
