The City of York Council is inviting tenders for the award of a contract for a Carer's Support Service.

The Service will offer the following support for carers of all ages in the City of York.

- A highly visible city centre premises through which all referrals for advice and support will be channelled.

- A comprehensive information and advice service which helps to prevent, reduce or delay the need for ongoing care, supporting and sustaining carers in their care giving role.

- Targeted support within communities and neighbourhoods to reach and engage with hidden, harder-to-reach carers.

- A service which provides Carers' Needs Assessments, Support Planning and Support Plan Reviews and encourages carers to undertake self-assessments.

- A service which champions carers' rights and raises awareness of carers' needs across partner agencies.

- A service which represents carers' views and supports carers in expressing these views to service providers and other partner agencies.

- A service which oversees the development of support groups and volunteer participation.

- A service which provides training courses for carers and professionals.

- A service which supports carers under the age of 18.

- A service which offers counselling to carers of all ages.

- A service which will contribute to the coordinated delivery of services and information across and within agencies.

- A service which supports carers in emergency and crisis situations.

- The provision of additional, creative support services that will be of benefit carers and their families.
