This Study will follow on from the results of work to select a preferred development strategy currently being undertaken, as advised in the Specification, and consider whether a Green Belt designation would be appropriate in South Hampshire and the broad strategic locations of land that could be subject to designation, having regard to the five purposes for Green Belt designation (NPPF para 138) and five tests for establishing a new Green Belt (para 139). The existing comparative assessment work will give an indication of the most sustainable locations for development and also the strategic green infrastructure needed to deliver the development. This Study will need to provide advice to inform the development of the approach that will need to deal with how both strategic green infrastructure needs can be met and how a potential Green Belt designation could be achieved in South Hampshire.
