two.1.4) Short description

Derry City and Strabane District Council currently has a planning application submitted for developing a ‘green field’ site on the outskirts of Derry City into a strategic cemetery to serve the needs of the west bank of the City for the next 50 years or more. DCSDC wish to commission an ICT to undertake the Design, specification, procurement, supervision and overall project management from RIBA Stage 4 through to RIBA Stage 7, of the following proposed works: Construction of a municipal cemetery to include burial space for approximately 4,000 plots; memorial garden, repositories for ashes; conversion of existing dwelling to reception/office admin building; removal of existing outbuildings; memorial service building with public toilets; maintenance/operations/storage building and service yard; parking provision; and all associated landscaping and drainage works including attenuation ponds. Vehicular access to the cemetery will be from Mullenan Road via a new private entrance road. A new footway link will be made to Balloughry Road to facilitate onward pedestrian/cycle connection to the “Line” greenway. Please refer to the CfT documents for further detail.
