Description
Melton Borough Council (the Council) wishes to conduct market consultation with relevant providers in relation to its tenant procurement, site operations, events management and marketing, grounds and building maintenance services provision for the Stockyard site.
The engagement will support the development of the future service delivery specification and provide an opportunity for providers to contribute to the service and procurement strategy process. Please note that this notice does not commit the Council to any future competition or award.
The Stockyard is a transformative mixed-use development in Melton Mowbray, designed to reinforce the town's reputation as the Rural Capital of Food and enhance footfall, dwell time and spend for the entire town. The scheme integrates food production, retail, markets, and events, creating a destination that supports independent businesses, enhances visitor engagement, and stimulates economic growth. While it maintains a loyal customer base, there is a strategic opportunity to diversify its appeal and attract a broader demographic.
Located adjacent to a fully operational livestock market of regional and national significance, The Stockyard already hosts a brewery, pub, café, and pop-up markets. However, the site is somewhat underutilised, and its facilities require modernisation, with the southern site currently undergoing a major redevelopment to transform a disused car park into 20,000 sq ft of light industrial space for food producers, alongside 88 parking spaces, enhancements to the public realm and a redevelopment of the current trader halls to revitalise the space for market trading, whilst also offering an indoor multi-cultural events space.
To submit an expression of interest and complete the soft market questionnaire, suppliers are encouraged to use the link below to access the ProContract e-procurement portal and access the questionnaire document. Responses are required by no later than 1st July 2025.
