The British Council is seeking proposals from suppliers who can provide international private medical insurance which we will provide to our employees. The employees are typically international assignees, and so are mostly expats, and are based in 70+ countries worldwide. Benefits are based on a tailored table of benefits, with a focus on medical treatments and check ups which are available on the NHS.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement
The British Council has been providing international private medical insurance to its internationally mobile employees for a number of years. At one time, there were two separate schemes for these employees, but these were consolidated into the current scheme at the last tender in 2018. We are seeking a supplier which can provide a full insurance solution, giving members access to high quality network and non-network facilities for out-patient, day- and in-patient services, via direct settlement, GoP and pay-and-claim. We expect high levels of service standards for members and administrators. The supplier must be willing to work with our brokers, Mercer Marsh Benefits, who receive a fixed rate of commission. Full details of British Council’s requirements are provided in Annex 1: Scope of Work and SLA, and further details of the health benefits and countries required are provided in Annex 4: Pricing & Tables of Benefits Sheet.

Bidder who wish to express an interest and take part in the tender process will be required to register on our e-Tendering portal In-Tend hosted at https://in-tendhost.co.uk/britishcouncil.Once registered, bidders must log-in to the website where they can view the project and access the bidders pack and submit their return. Bidders will also be required to demonstrate their capability and `means of proof` will be required. These conditions are outlined in the ITT.The British Council will incorporate a standstill period at the point information on the award of the contract is communicated to tenderers. That notification will provide full information on the award decision. The standstill period, which will be for a minimum of 10 calendar days, provides time for unsuccessful tenderers to challenge the award decision before the contract is entered into.
