Worthing Borough Council is entering into a 5 year contract with an option to extend it to a further 5 years for the provision of a temporary accommodation, including accommodation management services for homeless households that are owed a housing duty by the local authority under Sections 188 and 193 of the Housing Act 1996 or any other relevant housing legislation.

Explanation:
The Covid-19 pandemic has caused an unprecedented demand for emergency/ temporary accommodation that has forced the Council to use very expensive bed and breakfast and nightly booked accommodation. This has resulted in a sharp increase in spending that requires a quick response to secure accommodation at lower cost. If the Council is unable to acquire accommodation quickly this could result in the Council coming into financial difficulties.
