Brief Description of Requirement

The UK has committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050. To achieve this, the Department expects that emissions from all buildings, including non-domestic buildings, will have to be all but eliminated. The challenge of decarbonising energy use in non-domestic buildings is considered one of the most complex policy areas for the department. With the commitment to decarbonise the supply of electricity, electrically driven heat pump systems provide a great potential to achieve reductions in CO2 emissions and transition buildings to a net zero ready future.

The key aims of the project are:

• To bring together, and manage, a diverse range of experts from many different countries to contribute information and insight from their own knowledge and experience, in a timely manner to help achieve the objectives of the project.

• To build on existing tools and evidence to make best use of time and resources to deliver the objectives of the project.
