It is a statutory requirement that local authorities provide a supervised Family Time Service for children and young people who are Looked After. In addition, all local authorities have a statutory duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people under the Children’s Act 1989 and to support with family time between children and young people and significant persons with a continuing interest in their welfare, who are not necessarily looked after.
