Scarborough Borough Council (SBC) is to construct a new Whitby Maritime Training Hub (WMTH) to support the maritime and marine sectors. The overall vision of the WMTH will be “to become a renowned centre of maritime/marine training and enterprise which strengthens and supports the local, regional, national and international maritime and marine sectors and embodies traditional and 21st century maritime culture.”

SBC recognises that a skilled and experienced operator of the WMTH will be required to fully maximise its potential as an integrated hub to develop and support traditional and emerging sectors across a wide range of operational, education and support disciplines, therefore, SBC proposes to acquire an independent operator for the WMTH to manage the Hub on its behalf. SBC will maintain freehold ownership of the building and land.
