two.1) Scope of the procurement

two.1.1) Title

MTC small engineering & general metalwork for callouts, repairs and planned maintenance to all Council properties & locations

two.1.4) Short description

The scope of the services required includes:- Small Engineering and general metalwork company to assist the Property Maintenance Unit delivering emergency callouts, reactive repairs and planned maintenance works.

Small Engineering works to be carried out as following areas;

1. Power Washers ( service to power washer mechanism, lance and all hoses

2. Public Toilet Vent Systems – (service to include Vacuum cleaning all debris from fans and grilles )

3. Waste Transfer Roof Vents ( service to include vacuum cleaning from all high level extract fans and louvers, including high level access equipment )

4. Waste Transfer Gutter Cleaning – to be carried out in-conjunction with roof vent cleaning to include access and any out of hours labour as required.

5. Belfast Zoo – service to all pneumatic drives / linkages, free running of door mechanism, remove all debris from sliding door runners and ensure all moving parts run freely.

6. Botanic Gardens Glasshouse Windows and Palm House, doors & Vents Services – check all windows, doors and vent mechanisms for functionality, remove all debris from runners and ensure all moving parts act freely.

7. Tropical Ravine – service 58 nr sliding windows and 24 nr motors check all windows, doors and vent mechanisms for functionality, remove all debris from runners and ensure all moving parts act freely.

General Metal Work repairs and alternation works to be carried out as following areas;

1. Metal fencing & gates including mesh panel, bar, palisade, chainlink, netting and zoo animal enclosures

2. Handrails

3. Alley gates

4. Rota spike

5. Barb wire

6. Bins

7. Manhole covers

8. Road gullies

9. Traffic bollards

10. Lamp post

11. Skips

12. Goal posts

13. Steel doors

14. Metal wall cladding

15. Metal containers

16. Bike shelters

17. Staircases and steps

18. Window grilles

19. Park benches

20. Associated works include concrete, brickwork, paving slabs, paviors etc.

The provision of an emergency, 24 hour, 365 days per year call-out services to secure and make safe Council property is an essential and integral part of this work and is ‘of the essence’ with regards to the award and performance of the contract.

The Contractor is required to have his representative on site within one hour to make safe the location during normal working hours and within two hours outside normal working hours within the Contract area. The Contractor shall provide the Council with one contact name and telephone number for this purpose.
