Forestry England is tendering for a framework agreement for Mire Restoration in the North England Forest District. The framework requirements include the provision of services for Ditch Blocking and Mulching.

This framework is partly funded by Natural England

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

Forestry England are looking to set up a framework agreement for Mire Restoration in the North of England.

The requirements will be split into two separate Lots for Natural Regeneration Removal (Lot 1) and, Grip/Ditch Blocking and Peat Re-Profiling (Lot 2). The Border Mire suite is made up of 55 peat bogs managed by Forestry England in partnership with Northumberland Wildlife Trust and The Border Mire Committee. They are some of the most important mires in England are noted to have exceptionally deep peat. Because of this it is essential that bidders have the equipment, knowledge and experience to be able to work this type of site.

For Lot 1, the work that can be expected over the duration of the contract will be approximately 29.0 ha of regeneration to be mulched over a structured 3-year project. Several of the sites are designated as sites of Scientific Interest and Special Areas for Conservation.

For Lot 2, the work that can be expected over the duration of the contract will be approximately 24,400 metres ditches and drains to be worked on over a structured 3-year project.

There is a possibility that additional work may be required under the framework in the Kielder area.
