Forestry England’s (FE) North Forest District is looking to engage suitably qualified, capable and experienced service providers to carry out grip/ditch blocking and peat re-profiling services as part of peatland habitat restoration on the Border Mires. Grip blocking/re-profiling is to be carried out using peat plus or peat from the site.
Creation of natural blockages (peat plugs) using a suitable excavator along marked drains and ditches for mire restoration. Blocking the ditch to raise the hydrology of the mire.

Forestry England’s (FE) North Forest District is looking to engage suitably qualified, capable and experienced service providers to remove natural regeneration of trees as part of peatland habitat restoration on the Border Mires and also as part of forest operations, should the service be required. This tender expects that tree regeneration will be removed by mulching or flailing, but proposals for whole tree removal as a Biomass product will also be considered.
The work that can be expected over the duration of the contract will be approximately 29.0 ha of regeneration to be mulched over a structured 3-year project with possible additional work to be carried out within the Kielder beat when required.
