two.1.4) Short description
The Council has in place an existing contract for cleaning services at Corporate Properties across the county. This includes Offices, Day Care Centres, Libraries, Archives, Fire Stations etc. At present there are approx. 153 properties within the existing contract however, this number may reduce over the next three years as the Council continues its programme of consolidation of assets.
The Council proposes to enter into the Contract for a period of 2 years with an option to extend for a further 1 year with the successful Tenderer (Service Provider).The Contract term may only be extended if it was advertised on this basis and the Council shall have absolute discretion to extend the contract.
Cumbria is currently undergoing a local government reorganisation and Government has announced that Cumbria County Council is to be replaced by two unitary authorities with effect from 01 April 2023. Cumbria County Council shall be entitled to novate the Contract to any successor council as defined in The Local Government (Structural Changes) (Transfer of Functions, Property, Rights and Liabilities) Regulations 2008.

The Service Provider shall provide a comprehensive Cleaning Service throughout the County, delivered in a safe and efficient manner. The Service Provider shall take responsibility for maintaining all internal cleanable areas including fixtures, fittings, furniture and finishes, to minimise degradation, enhance asset life cycle and ensure the County’s high standards and image are maintained. The Service Provider is required to provide a safe, high quality service within the scope of the specification. The standard as specified is to be evident at the start of each working day and the Service Provider shall be responsible for monitoring the provision of the service on a daily basis to ensure that the cleaning standards are adhered to.
