Historic England employs permanent staff to cover day-to-day indirect tax queries and statutory requirements (e.g. VAT Return completion and submission) as well as provision of indirect tax advice to the members of the group and external customers. Basic questions are referred to the Government Finance Function Tax Centre of Excellence, but there are some more complex queries and project pieces of work (for example, with regard to our Partial Exemption Special Method) on which we would seek further advice and guidance. We also may require assistance and advice regarding regular communications with HMRC.
