Removal & Disposal of General Waste, Recycling Waste and Confidential Waste - Westmorland & Furness
There are approximately 56 corporate buildings within the area of Westmorland and Furness council to be included in this procurement process, including offices, care homes, day care centres, libraries and archives.
The services will be divided into two lots.
Lot 1 – General & Recycling Waste
Lot 2 – Confidential Waste
Regulations require Councils to handle waste in line with Waste Hierarchy and review current practices making sure everything possible is done to reduce, re-use, re-cycle or recover waste.
Tenderers are invited to bid for one or more Lots and will be awarded on the basis of the offer that is the most economically advantageous to the Council for each individual Lot.
The proposal is to let two new contracts from 1st April 2023 in relation to the East and West of Cumbria aligning with the two new unitary authorities. practically, the procurements will be conducted by Cumbria County Council who will enter into the two contracts, but who will not actually draw down any of the services, the contracts will novate to the respective new unitary councils.
