The Council is seeking to Commission a service to support deafblind service users through the provision of a Communicator Guide service. The service will provide trained Communicator Guide individuals who will provide communication and practical support to individuals in their everyday life.The role of a Communicator Guide will be to offer communication support, guiding skills and practical help, such as shopping, dealing with correspondence and setting up medical appointments. They will be highly skilled individuals, trained to be the eyes and ears of a deafblind person. They will relay information, facilitate communication with others and ensure service users are able to get about safely; they will be neutral, alert and give information, not advice, without prior selection or processing.
