Remove invasive plant life and repair various cracked and damaged stone copings and brickwork in abutments and wing walls. This may involve structural sheet piling works to redistribute loading away from failing brick elements.

Replace deteriorating Acme carriageway panels and sealant.

Clear and upgrade inadequate superstructure drainage.

Bridge waterproof replacement.

Repair works to the substructure at each end of the bridge and the piers, supporting the main structure.

Undertake conservation works to the Control Room.

Aesthetics

Remove failing / failed paint system (likely abrasive blasting), and repaint entire structure. It is hoped that an improved paint system, such as a resinous paint system, will be used as the primary protective system, potentially with an outer coat of traditional paint in order to satisfy the listing.
