University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust are seeking to engage with suppliers interested in its upcoming requirement for Specialist IT Training Services.
University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB), which manages and operates Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, Solihull Hospital, Good Hope Hospital and Birmingham Chest Clinic, is one of the largest teaching hospital trusts in England, serving a regional, national and international population. The Trust is a regional centre for cancer, trauma, renal dialysis, burns and plastics, HIV and AIDS, as well as respiratory conditions like cystic fibrosis. It has expertise in premature baby care, bone marrow transplants and thoracic surgery and provides the largest solid organ transplantation programme in Europe. It provides a series of highly specialist cardiac, liver and neurosurgery services to patients from across the UK.
The IT Services Department of University Hospitals Birmingham intend wish to engage a single company to provide the training needs for the department.
IT Services wishes to ensure that staff are appropriately trained and where appropriate certified and so wish to have a training provider that can support such a department.

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust are seeking to engage with suppliers interested in its upcoming requirement for Specialist IT Training Services.
It is the intention of the department that by engaging with a single company, economies of scale will be made along with productivity gains through more efficient and faster transactions.
The IT Services department of University Hospitals Birmingham consist of 450 members of staff and covers a wide variety of functions, including:
• Service Centre- 1st Line, 2nd Line, Triage, Access Management, 3rd Line, Continual Service Improvement, Problem Management.
• Infrastructure- Network, Computer, Telephony
• Programme Delivery- Programme / Project Management Office, Project Management
• Technical Design- Software Architecture, Infrastructure Architecture, System Architecture
• Technical Delivery- DBA, Integration and RPA, Software Development, Testing
• Asset Management- CMDB, Contract Management
• Information Security- Cyber Security
IT Services wishes to ensure that staff are appropriately trained and where appropriate certified and so wish to have a training provider that can support such a department.
The department spends in the region of £150,000 a year on training.
IT Services are looking for a company that can provide a mixture of self and tutor led learning, both on-line and in person, and facilitate certification if required.
Examples of courses included within the Requirements & Briefing Note Document attached to the PQQ.
We wish to be able to see a catalogue of courses, check availability, and book with ease based on role-based access.
Also to be able to review the training of staff including courses taken, dates, scores (if appropriate), and certification (including expiry) (if appropriate). As well as to be able to download this data to be used internally.
This exercise is intended to provide potential bidders with the opportunity to review the Authority's Briefing Document and to provide information regarding the services they can offer that could meet these outline requirements. This builds on the Authority's commitment to engage with the market, by sharing information and seeking input from the market to enable us to develop the final specification and determine the appropriate route to market in a fair and transparent manner.
