The successful Supplier will be required to provide catering services for St Michael’s Church of England High School.

Contract value approx. £1,056,000 (3 years)

The contract is for the delivery of catering services commencing 1st April 2022 for an initial period of three years with the option to extend for a further two years.

St Michael’s Church of England High School is a school of 1137 11–16-year-old pupils situated in Chorley, Lancashire.

The school has a main kitchen and dining area and a separate small kitchen and modern café area (Glasshouse), currently catering for year 11 pupils. There is also an external hatch from the main kitchen and a container that has provided a jacket potato offer in the past.

This is a school with high standards and the same high standards are expected from the catering provider. The emphasis is on pupils sitting down to eat a meal with a knife and fork rather than a grab and go culture with strong emphasis on a balanced diet and a sociable dining experience. Disposables and plastic bottles are actively discouraged.

The school expects to work closely with their catering provider to ensure that the pupils eat well and behave well. Communication and proactive engagement are key.

Proposals for re-organisation of the dining area and for capital investment will be invited.

The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.

The contracting authority reserves the right not to award any or part of the contract which is the subject of this contract notice and reserves the right to terminate the procurement process at any time.

The contracting authority will not be liable for any costs incurred by those expressing an interest in tendering for this contract opportunity.

The contracting authority will consider variant bids, evaluating them (so far as the variant or the evaluation of the variant is in the opinion of the contracting authority practicable) on the same basis as a conforming bid, but shall not be obliged to accept any such bid in preference to a conforming bid even if the variant bid scores more highly. No variant will be considered unless the bidder simultaneously submits a conforming bid.
