Offshore Renewable Energy (“ORE”) Catapult has a requirement to build a Technology Development Centre (“TDC”) and to do so, it needs to refurbish an existing storage building at our site in Blyth, Northumberland, which is approximately 1800m2 in floorspace.
ORE Catapult is therefore hosting an event on Thursday 01 September 2022, at its facility in Blyth, Northumberland to carry out early market engagement. NB: suppliers are to note that the PIN will not be used to reduce procurement timescales.

The work is now being broken down into three (3) separate lots, although suppliers are to note that the final specifications are yet to be fully scoped, basic details are described below. ORE Catapult is open to suppliers applying for any one or more of the Lots.
Full occupancy of the building is expected by Q2 of 2023, with renovation costs estimated in the region of £1.8m, which is being funded by a combination of Innovate UK, the Blyth Town Deal and the North of Tyne combined Authority.
We anticipate that the ITT will follow the “Open” procurement process and will not be issued until early September 2022.

NEC3 Form of Contract. The requirement will be to renovate an existing storage building at
our site in Blyth, Northumberland, which is approximately 1800m2 in floorspace. Within the
building a requirement exists to create in the region of 550m2 of office and welfare space,
with the remaining space being configured for testing and engineering workshops. Works are
likely to include refurbishment of steel works, replacement of the cladding, some ground
works, replacement of doors, as well as complete fit out of the interior, including furnishings.

• Lot 1: a requirement exists to create in the region of 600m2 of office and welfare space within an existing building, with the remaining space being configured for testing and engineering workshops. Works are likely to include refurbishment of steel works, replacement of the cladding, some ground works, replacement of doors, as well as complete fit out of the interior, including furnishings.
• Lot 2: to upgrade the High voltage electrical infrastructure supplies to the building, and installation of suitable switch gear to provide 415v supplies to the test equipment that is to be installed within the building.
• Lot 3: to construct permanent whether proofing to the 6MW bearing test rig, which would require a footprint of approximately 8m by 8m to a height of approx 10m.
Full occupancy is expected by Q2 of 2023, with renovation costs estimated in the region of £1.8m, which is being funded by a combination of the Blyth Town Deal and the North of Tyne combined Authority.
