West Yorkshire Combined Authority will shortly be tendering for a training provider to deliver a Bus Driver Training programme for West Yorkshire residents. The training should develop knowledge and skills for sector entry, underpinned by employer needs.

*This opportunity will only be available to suppliers who have been appointed to the WYCA 79437 Adult Skills DPS

If you are interested in this opportunity, you must successfully complete and be onboarded onto the Adult Skills DPS first before the tender goes live, you will then have access to full details of the requirements, tender documents and have the opportunity to submit a bid should you meet all relevant filters.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

The Combined Authority is seeking to contract with one training provider to deliver the following:

Stage 1 An awareness raising and myth busting campaign and training programme

Stage 1 should develop knowledge and basic skills for sector entry, underpinned by customer service skills. It is expected that the provider will link to local employers to develop participant understanding of the realities of the occupation provide and local job opportunities. The training programme is anticipated to last for 2 weeks.

The awareness course should be delivered in each of the 5 Local Authority Areas of West Yorkshire.

Learners participating in the awareness course should progress directly onto Stage 2 or support employment opportunities with the large operator training programmes. It is expected that the provider will have established links to support seamless progression.

Stage 2 Medical and application for a Provisional Licence and an SME Bus driver training programme

The aim of stage 2 is to provide learners access to relevant medicals and support with their application for a Provisional Licence. The learner will then progress to complete an SME Bus driver training programme which creates a link directly to West Yorkshire SMEs who hold vacancies. Bus driver training should include:

• Work trial

• Customer Service

• Theory and Hazard Test

• Driving 4 all online revision

• 60 hours 1-2-1 on road driving

• Practical training and test

• Digicard application

• DBS

• Employment support

• Health and Safety

• Disability awareness Training

• Guaranteed interview for live roles
