The works involves the creation of a series of designs for European Train Control Systems (ETCS) to be incorporated with differing Classes of Heritage & Charter Locomotives, which will enable their ability to operate within a European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) Level 2 area without lineside signalling.
The system designs for each Class will then be manufactured, fitted to their respective vehicles, and require a period of maintenance under this contract.
Network Rail proposes to invite the supply chain market to undertake the works outlined above through a separate (Call For Competition) and corresponding ITT.
