The Development Manager will be required to review the masterplan and business case and take on direct responsibility for managing the delivery of two separate and significant new build developments that constitute the first phase of the redevelopment.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

The contract is for the delivery of Development Management consultancy services in connection with the first phase of the Smithfield Riverside redevelopment, a key regeneration initiative within the Shrewsbury Big Town Plan. The Development Manager will be required to review the masterplan and business case and take on direct responsibility for managing the delivery of two separate and significant new build developments that constitute the first phase of the redevelopment. These are a new 11,500m2 multi-agency hub to replace the Council’s existing civic accommodation at Shirehall with additional space for public and private sector partners and a new 7,000m2 leisure and travel hub c 400 cars to replace the existing Pride Hill shopping centre. The estimated scheme costs are c £67m. Demolition of two existing shopping centres and enabling works are required to prepare the site for the new build activity. The Development Manager will not have direct responsibility for these works, for which planning applications are currently being prepared, but will be required to liaise closely with those managing these work streams to ensure that interfaces are clear and interdependencies are identified and managed.
