two.1.4) Short description
Leicester City Council invites Tenders from suitably qualified and experienced organisations for the provision of the Healthwatch Leicester and Leicestershire service to be commissioned by Leicester City Council for itself and Leicestershire County Council.
The Health and Social Care Act (March 2012) required local authorities to establish local Healthwatch services in their localities. The Councils are required to purchase a local Healthwatch service from a social enterprise or body corporate. The statutory functions of Healthwatch include:-
a. promoting and supporting the involvement of local people in the provision of local health and social care services.
b. Scrutinise local health and social care services
c. obtaining the views and experiences of people accessing local health and social care services
d. making recommendations about how local health and social care services could be improved
e. signposting people to information about local health and care services
f. having a seat on Leicester City and Leicestershire County Health & Wellbeing Boards
The proposed Contract shall be held by Leicester City Council and will be for an initial period of 3 years to commence on 1st April 2023, with an option to extend, subject to satisfactory performance outcomes for a further 2 years to 31st March 2028, taking the contract term to a maximum of 5 years.
The contract value is a maximum of £300,000 per annum or £1.5 million for the full term of the contract.
The Authority will hold an online Tender Information Session conducted via Microsoft Teams on 18th August 2022 10:00 am to 12.00 pm.
