two.2.4) Description of the procurement
Hampshire County Council will be seeking a suitable supplier, via a open tender procedure, for the provision of a vehicle collection, storage and disposal service.
The contract has a maximum duration of 8 years and 9 months. The initial terms is from the 01/04/2022 until 31/12/2024.
The service is expected to be provided throughout Hampshire except for the areas under the control of Southampton and Portsmouth City Councils which are not included within the current contract or this tender.
The district authorities as Waste Collection Authorities (WCA), and Hampshire County Council as Waste Disposal Authority (WDA) have legal duties regarding abandoned vehicles.
The WCA are responsible for the collection of abandoned vehicles (and any Goods within) throughout their area and the WDA is responsible for their storage and disposal.
The need of the WCA and WDA to deal with abandoned vehicles is driven by instances of illegal acts and so the number of vehicles to be dealt with, or the frequency of collections, cannot be guaranteed.
The contract partners will include the following:
