NMIS is an industry-led international centre of manufacturing expertise. It is where industry, research and the public sector work together to transform skills, productivity and innovation. It will attract investment and make Scotland a global leader in advanced manufacturing.
NMIS HQ will be located in Renfrewshire close to Glasgow Airport and the existing Advanced Forming Research Centre (AFRC). Construction began in December 2020 on the NMIS HQ. It is now successfully underway, and is due to be operational by autumn 2022. The new building includes purpose built catering facilities which can be seen in the attached drawings.
The University anticipate that the awarded supplier will provide the below as a minimum:

- Cakes and snacks
- advanced order options e.g via email, verbal or telephone ordering
- Lite lunches; sandwiches, soup, paninis – other lighter options
- Hot food options longer term as numbers increase
- branding and advertisements locally, design to be agreed with NMIS
The awarded supplier must be able to demonstrate a focus on sustainability in the following ways:
- No single use plastics/items.
- Loyalty or reduce costs for using own containers.

The new NMIS HQ building can accommodate up to 250 staff, and 250 visitors at any time.
The University anticipate that following building handover there will be a set up and transition period, during these initial months there will be a small number of staff/ visitors on site.
This will then increase to full capacity in yr1 and yr2.
During the first yr it is expected visitor numbers will be high, >200-400 throughout the year, as we show members and partners the new facility. This will include local and international visits, ranging from project teams, senior executives, government officials and industry leaders.
The café area will also be open to the General public following official opening of the building (Spring 2023).
The University would also like to explore the option of the appointed supplier providing catering services for larger conferences and events in the longer term.
