The London Borough of Tower Hamlets (LBTH) is seeking expressions of interest from interested organisations for the provision of weed control on Highways and other areas. Tower Hamlets are committed to a reduction in chemical treatment of weeds throughout Tower Hamlets. This contract is for the twice yearly spot treatment of all weeds on the public highways at specified intervals as detailed within the specification.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement
The successful Contractor will be required to provide the services to maintain a range of
landscape areas at various sites within the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. This contract
is primarily provided for the benefit of residents.
The Borough’s public spaces and the services provided therein, make key contributions
towards achieving the Council’s Strategic Outcomes. Key aspects of the open space
provision are:
• Safety and Amenity – to improve and maintain the visual attractiveness of the public realm,
and ensure the perceived and physical safety of facility users and visitors.
• Recreation and Health – to provide and maintain a high standard of facilities for both active
and passive users.
• Conservation and Biodiversity – to conserve historical landscapes and features, and to
protect, expand and enhance the habitat for diverse species of plant and animal life in the
Borough.
• Education – to develop amenity open spaces as an educational resource for residents and
visitors, promoting environmental awareness and accessibility.
