Scope
Description
Cumberland Council commissions a service for people who are d/Deaf, hard of hearing or with dual sensory loss.
The service will have four main elements:
• Information, advice and guidance (IAG)
• Care Act needs assessments
• Equipment
• Prevention and deaf awareness.
The service will be open to all adults (and children in transition from children's services to adult social care aged 16-17) who are d/Deaf, hard of hearing or with dual sensory loss, and resident in Cumberland. Equipment will only be provided to people with Care Act eligible needs.
The service will likely be delivered face to face via appointments and drop-in events, as well as online and the telephone.
Total value including any extensions will be £234,927.

Engagement process description
Whoever delivers the service must understand the needs of the Deaf community, have staff that are able to communicate in BSL, be competent in carrying out needs assessments, selecting and purchasing specialist equipment to meet care and support needs and have experience in delivering events to promote prevention and deaf awareness.
