It also provides a commuting route to Foyle Port and Maydown. The project has been in development for a number of years which has meant various stretches of the route are at different stages of design development. Therefore it is expected that the project will be developed in 2 distinct sections. Section 1 – Strathfoyle Greenway between Foyle Bridge and Stradowen Drive, 2.7km This is a single linear route, running through a 20-25m green corridor, from below the Foyle Bridge to Stradowen Drive in Strathfoyle. Planning is currently secured for this section of the Greenway. Works would involve but not be limited to construction of a 3.5m asphalt greenway with lighting, drainage, landscaping, retaining structures, embankments, fencing, ancillary works, as well as creating links to attractions, amenities and residential areas from the greenway. Section 2 – Strathfoyle Greenway improvement to paths within Gransha and linkage to existing Cityside Network, 1km This is a looped route, running through the Gransha estate which will also involve provision of a linkage across the Foyle Bridge, and onto the existing Greenway Network at Boom Hall. The section that traverses the Foyle Bridge will be signage only due to the bridge parapet height, with a new link being constructed at the existing east bound layby. The ICT will be expected to submit full planning for this stretch of Greenway. Works would involve but not be limited to upgrading the existing paths to a minimum of 3.0m wide asphalt greenway with appropriate buffer as agreed with DCSDC, kerbing, lighting, drainage, signage, landscaping and ancillary works. The ICT commission for this project will consist of a single contract, to undertake the design development, contract administration and project implementation of the works outlined in Section 1 and undertake the design development, contract administration and project implementation of the works outlined in Section 2.
