The Children’s Trust is required to have an internal audit function under the accounts and audit regulations. These regulations place responsibility on the Trust for maintaining an adequate and effective internal audit service. The Trust are, therefore, now seeking to engage a suitably qualified and experienced supplier for the provision of an Internal Audit function.

six.1) Information about recurrence

The Trust’s Management Team is responsible for ensuring that there is an adequate system of internal control, and that it is maintained and complied with on a routine basis. The lead officer on maintaining the system of internal control is the Director of Finance. The Trust is required to prepare an Annual Governance Statement to review the effectiveness of the system of internal control, and this is signed by the Chief Executive. The Audit Committee has responsibility for reviewing the effectiveness of the internal audit function. The Committee receives regular reports from the internal audit provider, and the internal audit provider will attend Finance and Resources Committee meetings.The Head of Internal Audit, to be provided by the external supplier, will be required to work with other elements of the Trust’s audit services. This includes the Trust’s external auditors, Crowe.The contract will be for the statutory internal audit of the following operating periods:1st April 2021 - 31st March 20221st April 2022 - 31st March 20231st April 2023 – 31st March 2024This contract will be for a period of 3 years commencing October 2021, with an option to extend for a further two years, subject to satisfactory performance.The Council will be using its free to use e-tendering system (in-tend) for the administration of this procurement process and potential suppliers must register with the system to be able to express an interest.
