two.2.4) Description of the procurement

Estates and Building Services, Leicester City Council are managing the delivery of the refurbishment works to these properties on behalf of the Authority’s Housing Department.

Built in the mid 1970’s by the Sheffield Regional Hospital Board, Phase 2 is part of a larger estate of dwellings erected for use by staff working at the adjacent Leicester General Hospital.

The housing estate was purchased by the Local Authority in 2021; prior to which it is understood to have stood vacant since 2019.

The objective of the development is to bring the existing properties up to good liveable condition in accordance with the Decent Homes Standard and enhancing the building efficiency in relation to sustainability.

Once completed, the dwellings will be let as Social Housing, under the management of Leicester City Council’s Housing Department.

The overall scheme is to be undertaken in two distinct phases. Phase1 of the works has been tendered separately. During the construction phase, there is likely to be some overlap with Phase 1 works.
