The Foresterhill campus has had much building development over the years, including the recent completion of the Mathew Hay building, the Linac building and the Suttie Centre. It is, however still in need of much development to fulfil the aims of Foresterhill Development Framework (approved in 2008 and updated 2014 to reflect new Scottish Planning Guidance) by Aberdeen City Council Planning Authority. The Framework provides strategic design guidance for redevelopment and modernisation of the Foresterhill Campus, and creates certainty for projects promoted by the joint owners.
The development of new Elective Care facilities, the Baird Family Hospital and ANCHOR Centre will extend planned care capacity and provide an opportunity to transform NHS Grampian’s approach to acute care.
Longer term solutions are still required for the re-provision of the remaining in-patient accommodation and theatre services currently located in East End 2 and Phase 2 (100 years old and 50 years old respectively), a longer term solution is also required for the provision of ambulatory care, mortuary services, laboratory medicine services and the relocation of the central decontamination unit, laundry and facilities services.
To ensure we are able to continue operating from the Campus and enable the progression of the projects above, we will require a site infrastructure capable of supporting current and future developments whilst also meeting the demands of the NHS Scotland Climate change commitments.
