Worcester City Council is inviting tenders for an exciting opportunity to create a new destination for food and drink, right in the heart of Worcester city centre by way of a concession arrangement with a high quality experienced caterer.

The Council received a grant for city centre regeneration through the Government’s “Future High Streets Fund” and is investing over £8.5m in the full redevelopment of the Scala and Corn Exchange. This investment is expected to deliver major increases in footfall into this part of the city centre and create new employment opportunities.

The Scala will not be a theatre in the traditional sense. It will be an arts centre, a daytime and evening multi-purpose creative space to increase participation in the arts and raise cultural ambition in Worcester. The Scala provides the city with 3 new studio spaces- a screen, a stage and a box studio. It will host independent cinema, diverse performances, workshops, events and classes. Private hires and functions will be a key component of the income base.

The food and beverage offer will be focussed on the historic Corn Exchange which offers a stunning glass vaulted ceiling and real visual appeal. Our aim is to combine the look and feel of both spaces, to deliver a unique customer experience. The Scala and Corn Exchange will add to Worcester’s cultural reputation, attracting visitors locally, regionally and beyond.

Please see the procurement documents for further information.
