The successful Supplier will be required to provide Catering, Hospitality and Cleaning services for the James Hutton Institute Aberdeen and Dundee locations.
Contract value = GBP 3.6 m over the whole lifetime of the contract
The James Hutton Institute is a well-respected and globally recognised research organisation delivering fundamental and applied science to drive sustainable use of land and natural resources. The organisation is a charitable company limited by guarantee. It employs over 500 scientists and support staff, making it one of the biggest research centres in the UK and the first of its type in Europe. The Institute is one of the Scottish Governments main research providers, and as such will follow a PCS compliant tender process.
The institute current combined catering and cleaning contract comes to its natural end in December 2023, and the client wishes to appoint a suitably qualified organisation to provide its catering and cleaning services. The contract is for the JHI locations in Aberdeen and Dundee.
The institute will not accept tender responses for single services and require the provider to provide both catering and cleaning.
The institute has embarked on an ambitious building project with its new Dundee offices, lecture theatre and meeting facilities opening in July 2024. As part of the tender exercise the client is exploring capital investment to options fit out the kitchen and service area of their new building in Dundee.
Over the next two years the Institute are investing to deliver an open science campus that will be open to the public in Aberdeen. This will include the installation of a new restaurant facility that will also be open to the public.
The Institute would welcome proposals that include engagement with local growers and suppliers to ensure local businesses benefit from the catering provided to the two locations.
Contract commencement January 1st, 2024, for 3-year Period, followed by two one-year optional extensions.
